Retro Swimwear: Style Guide

Hey Everyone,

So since it’s Memorial Day, which is the unofficial start of summer, I thought it would be fitting to do a swimwear post. Here’s to one of my favorite looks, retro/ pin-up swim wear. Think of the 50s screen sirens like Marilyn Monroe and Rita Hayworth along with pin up girls like Bettie Page. They accentuated their curves with padded, bra top halters and high waisted bottoms or with halter one piece suits and even little swim skirts or shorts. Though compared to today’s skimpy string bikinis, this retro style may seem a little covered up, the looks were scandalous at the time. Today, the retro swim look is feminine, classy, and sexy, not overly exposed.

  1. Ever wonder how to keep your favorite bikini intact? Seems like after every summer your swimsuit looks like it went through one too many surf trips.

“Remember to always hand wash your bikini’s in cold water and lay them flat to dry out of the sunshine.
This will give you the best longevity in your fits and help the colors stay bright.”
