This is just what I think the trends for spring will be based on what I’ve seen on the runways. (I looked at the shows on style.com and pulled photos from there.) I am planning on doing an update once stores start stocking their spring collections.
Here’s the trends:
I know that lace is already trendy, but for spring, designers were showing white eyelet/lace dresses. Summer’s alternative to a cocktail dress! Easy and chic!
Top row: BCBG, Alberta Ferretti, ADAM
Bottom Row: Alberta Ferretti, Alberta Ferretti, Alexander McQueen
White was a prominent color in almost all of the spring collections, which would be expected since it’s a spring/summery color, but in some collections like Dolce and Gabana, BCBG, Calvin Klein, and Alexander Wang, it was basically the whole collection. There were a lot of white menswear inspired suits in the collections. I’m feeling a white boyfriend blazer!
Top Row: Alexander McQueen, Band of Outsiders, Bottega Veneta
Bottom row: Calvin Klein, Michael Kors
Red…and other Brights:
In contrast to all the white, most designers showed a lot of vivid, bright color particularly red(even in leather). Maybe the LBD should be the little bright dress after all!
Top: ADAM, BCBG, Burberry Prorsum
Bottom: Dior, Marc Jacobs, Prada
This trend was started by Phoebe Philo(Celine) a couple of seasons ago and became big for this fall. Designers are continuing with the trend for spring. The look was clean and simple with pulled back, neat hair, no jewelry, and neutral colors.
Top: BCBG, Celine
Bottom: Chloe, Jil Sander
Sheer was everywhere for spring 2011! Dresses, tops, skirts, and even pants had sheer panels or were sheer all over. Just be sure to wear something underneath so you don’t expose too much!

Go with the Flow:
Everything was flowy and had an ease. Flowy print dresses were especially popular among the designers and cropped up in just about every show. There were flowy dresses, skirts, and pants galore!
Top: Alberta Ferretti
2nd: Alexander McQueen, Bottega Venetta
3rd: Bottega Venetta, Dior, Marc Jacobs
Bottom: Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors
That’s all for now! What do you think? Please comment below!! Do you like any of these trends? Could you see people wearing them in real life? What do you think of runway reports? Do you think I should continue with them?
