Makeup look inspired by: The Virgin Suicides

The Virgin Suicides is a 1999 movie directed by Sophia Coppola. Kirsten Dunst stars in the movie, which is based on the true story of a group of sisters that take their own lives in the 1970s. The girls dealt with hyper religious parents, who eventually homeschooled their daughters and locked them inside. The dark comedy is not only an intriguing story but also an excellent source of inspiration for fashion and beauty. The girls wear flowy, 70s type clothing in light colors. The makeup is very minimal and classic American. Everything about the girls is soft and pretty, but with a darker twist that’s hidden. Here, I’ll show you how to get the dreamlike makeup look from the movie.

Tutorial:

The makeup look should be very natural and soft. Use light colors and start with luminous skin.

Step 1: Apply a light moisturizer or face primer to moisten the skin.
Step 2: Using a damp sponge, such as the beauty blender or your fingers, dab on a light foundation or tinted moisturizer. Blend all the way down to your neck so there are no lines.
Step 3: Prime eyelids with an eye primer, such as Urban Decay Primer Potion.
Step 4: Using a fluffy eye shadow brush, dust a matte vanilla or taupe colored shadow onto the lid.
Step 5: Using a coffee colored liner, draw a thin line along the upper lash line. Gently smudge it out a bit with your finger for a natural look.
Step 6: Apply a pale pink or berry liquid cheek tint or stain to the apples of your cheeks with your fingers. This will create a soft, glow.
Step 7: Apply a berry hued lip stain to the lips or use a lipstick in the same shade and lightly dab it on with your fingers.

That’s it, now you can re-create the sweet look. I think this would be perfect for a casual weekend look or an everyday, romantic look.
